Some Great Adventures Going On Here!

Instead of writing, I think I will list all of the "stuff going on" with us! Some are "firsts" in our lives and are pretty special, too!!!! So.......here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Stephanie, our oldest daughter, lives in Denver and is watching the Democratic National Convention protesters through the windows of her office building. Now that's a BIG first!!! Quite a bit of craziness going on all around her as she goes to and from work! Be careful Steph!

2. Emily, our youngest, started teaching 1st grade in Addison this past Monday. I went in last week to help her get her classroom ready. So much fun! She will be a great teacher!

3. Mark, my hubby, was just honored (for the first time ever)with the quarterly Small Business Award here in Abilene. We had a reception at his office just this morning! It was very humbling for him to receive this, although I truly believe he is quite deserving of it! Congratulations, honey!

4. This is the first time in 22 years that I have not had a "child in school". I still get nostalgic when I walk down the school supply aisle! Sigh.............

5. We have our first son-in-law who we think is "pretty special" and who's being a great help and support to Emily as she starts her new job. Thanks Josh!
Each one of these things are definately life adventures that God has given us for today , some for years, and others for a lifetime! May we all follow our "Leader" in whatever adventure He takes us on!

I Love a Rainy Night!

I woke up in the wee hours of Saturday morning to the loudest clap of thunder I think I have ever heard in my life!! The lightning show and thunder the heavens displayed for the next several hours was unbelievable. All of you Abileniens know exactly what I am talking about. Today is Sunday and it is still raining and the smell in the air is wonderful! I ran out a little bit ago just to "experience" the fresh air, cool temps, and feel the rain on my face and the running water over my feet!. Sounds silly, I know, but if you live in West Texas , this is a wonderful break from our hot and dry summer!! Thank you Lord for this wonderful break from our heat!! What a blessing and gift it is!

A Happy Anniversary...Yesterday!

Yesterday,Mark and I celebrated 29 years of marriage! In those 29 years have been 2 beautiful daughters, a brand new son-in-law, 4 dogs, too many cats and kittens to count, wonderful friends and family, ups and downs, and a God who is always faithful, loving, forgiving and gracious. What more could one ask for???? We didn't have a big celebration, but went out to dinner with our dear friends, Gary and Maria White. It was such a fun and relaxing time as we "caught up" on kids, a new grandbaby, and their recent mission trip to Jamaica!! Did I have my camera with me????? No!!! But here are a few pics of the beautiful flowers from Mark and a couple great cards!! Thanks, Mark, for a Happy Anniversary !!!!! Love You!!

Give Me the Simple Life!

This past week I was under the weather with some sort of a bug! At first I thought I had gotten way too hot last weekend, but as other symptoms surfaced, I decided it was really a bug. Feeling under the weather kept me from doing any serious work on our booth, but on Friday morning I did go out and "shop" at a few garage sales in the country...and I mean country. It was a great experience, in more ways than one. I don't live in the country, but it was so fun to experience the "country life" for a couple of hours. I so wish I had brought my camera to record the things I saw that made me smile! Instead, I will just list my top ten favorites!
1. A sign on a tree that said "Jackass for sale...$50.00
2. Two pieces of furniture that I bought for 50 cents each!!
3. A cute elderly couple walking down a dirt driveway, holding hands and carrying their newly purchased weedeater.
4. Homebaked goodies spread out on an old table....cookies, fried pies, cakes and brownies, oh my!
5. A longhorn steer looking at me as I shopped, a horse neighing in the next pen, and a lady trying to get me to buy her pot bellied pig!
6. A playpen full of little white, Maltese puppies for sale.
7. People talking with the thickest West Texas accents you ever heard.
8. Seeing lots and lots of Christian books, home school curriculums and Bibles.
9.Hearing kids say yes ma'am and no ma'am and thank you!!
10. A nice teenage boy moving boxes of books over to the shade so I could sit down and look at them comfortably.

It was truly a fun time and sweet experience! Just give me the simple life!

Off on Another Bunnytrail

Sorry it has been so long since my last post, but I have been really busy. As my title states, I'm "off on another bunnytrail"!!! Mary and I are opening a booth at Palazzo Reale on Butternut. The owner of the store is allowing vendors to create their own booths on the north end of the building. Friday and Saturday I searched for doors, etc. to be put together to define our space.
Tim Carter helped me with the project (and did a great job, I might add) and he and Mark set up the framework on Saturday. I then hit LOTS of garage sales to find some great treasures to put in our booth. Would you believe I found a 1950's Sunbeam pink mixmaster on a stand?? It is awesome!!! Mary will be adding her wonderful artwork, tilework and whatever else she creates. I think the title of our booth should be "something old, something new, something created and something used". Anyway, we will be gathering goods for our space and should be ready in the near future!! I will post pictures as it develops!! Come by and check it out!!!
